Fractured pipe from the fridge compressor- No gas and no cooling?

I have an 18 month old Frigidaire fridge which has stopped working. The problem is that where the copper pipe comes out of the compressor, it goes into a metal tray and is bent into a 'snake' shape. I guess this part of the mechanism is to evaporate any water that has been collected from inside the fridge which runs down the pipe into the tray. The copper pipe has split in the tray and has let out all the gas. Hence no cooling. Can the pipe be repaired and the compressor re gassed ?

Hi Steffan,

Yes the pipe can be fixed. It just needs a weld job and all is back to normal, however I'm not sure if the gas will need to be replaced too. Hence forth you will need to put a call out for an engineer.

If you still have warranty then give them a call for a free repair.
