Problem has been solved by my husband (they are good for something after all!)! He took the small
back -plate off the centre back of the drier, tried the drier and the scraping noise stopped, put it back on and the noise started again. Solution was to put a few washers to act as spacers, it seems that the screws of the back-plate are too long and that's what was causing the scraping sound, poor design there Indesit! Hope this helps others, this was so easy to do, as the machine didn't need to be taken apart. I am so glad I didn't call out an engineer to resolve the problem as this would have cost an absolute fortune.
