Fuel problem ? - 1.9 Diesel Clio?

The car runs fine when the weather is cold!In the afternoon though when the weather warms up, the car starts juddering and jumping especially at lower speeds. It feels like the fuel isn't getting through properly and lots of smoke comes out of the exhaust. No warning lights appear to light up.

Can anyone help with a diagnosis?

Thanks

thanks for your answer 'D', much appreciated.

No, its not a turbo just a bog standard 1.9 diesel engine.
Is there any likelyhood it could be the fuel/diesel pump at all?I'm not sure if they can be affected by the outside temperature.
I took the car to my local garage who charged me £40 to tell me they dont know what the problem is and said a £1000 overhaul will do the job!so obviously I want to get more opinions as I dont have that kind of money to spend
Any more ideas or suggestions would be hugely appreciated from you all out there..
Thanks in anticipation

Chris

is it a turbo? look and feel for a hole in intercooler and pipes running to the turbo. the intercooler cools air to turbo,so if its cold outside even air not going thru intercooler is cool enough for the turbo, but when it gets warm then if air does not get cooled in the intercooler the car runs crap.
