I lost my safety key to the sportcraft TX400 treadmill?

i lost my safety key to the sportcraft TX400 treadmill. treadmill won't start without it. i searched online and they key is no longer available. how can i get a replacement key. treadmill doctor sells a 1" flat key for $29.99, but i'm not sure if that fits. any other ideas? please help.

I thought I lost my key also and found it in the machine where the motor is. Just take off the cover on top. Six screws. And it was sitting in the cover.

Me too. My wife saw me looking for a magnet and handed me a card shaped refrigerator magnet. I cut it to shape and it works just like the key. Magnet side up.

my wife cut a thin magnet of the refigerater stuck it in ad it worked

I think these things are just magnets...so place a magnet on it an see if it works. If so then glue a cord onto the magnet and use that as a saftey key
