i have a ldv convoy with a 2.5 transit engine the other day started it up as usual and drove for about a mile all of a sudden smoke started bellowing from the exhaust like something you would see out the back of a red arrows jet so tried to switch the engine of but it wouldnt it just reved up like the eccelerator was stuck on it eventualy went of so got out and gave the engine oil and water a quick check and all seemed fine so started it back up and continued on my journey with only slight blueish smoke for a while on my return journey exactly the same thing happend engine has only done about 75 thousand miles could it be dodgy diesel or water in filter

thanx cdc removed rocker cover and some of the bolts were indeed loose infact one had come out completely and was lying next to one of the push rods so i suppose i can consider myself very lucky so retightend them and adjusted the tappits while i was at it heres hopeing that is it

remove the rocker cover and check the bolts securing the rocker shaft,these sometimes work loose flooding the rocker box with oil and creating terrible smoke
