I have an old JD RX-75 riding mower that was running well?

My old JD RX75 lawn mower ran well, now it doesn't crank. I changed battery, solenoid, and relay to no effect. The relay makes a clicking noise when I attach the battery cables, and there is nothing when I short the solenoid connections, i.e., there is no spark and no attempt to start. Any ideas?

Remove the cover from the top of the starter. I'm guessing the starter drive that is on top of the starter is broken or jammed. It is can be rebuilt with a kit available from most home centers.
