How do I replace my offside wing mirror of my Astra Club 2002?

I have a manually adjusted offside wing mirror on my 2002 Astra hatchback Club and do not know how to remove it and replace it with a new unit. Can anyone help?

Does the old mirror which is cracked simply lever out or what?

Many thanks

The mirror glass levers out. It's held in place by ball and socket joints, around 3 of them if my memory serves me well. Position the mirror so that the outside edge is raised to it's full extension, get someone with small fingers to get them behind the glass and pull. It helps if you squirt a lot of WD40 down behind the mirror so that the ball and sockets are lubricated and disengage freely. However if the mirror is already cracked it's likely to break on removal but no harm done as it's junk anyway. The new one just presses into place, lube the ball sockets up first to help it slide into place, central on first and others after. Easy to see how it works when you've got one apart.
