Hi i have lost reverse gear on my 2001 vw sharan 1.9 tdi auto 5 speed tiptronic gear box. i have been told that its the reverse band and its a really common fault on these boxes. Im quite good at fixing cars but i have no idea where im looking for where this band should go or anything, can anyone advise me on how to do it or any information about where it would be located etc, thanks very much

the box will have to come out and maincase split. Pump removed and diff, Remove pinion with reduction planet gears assy. Remove sun gear and the band is around the clutch drum. Note where thrust washers sit. I strongly advise you to contact a F.A.T.E. member near you to do this work and also address other weaknesses in the trans at the same time. www.fedauto,co.uk
