twic yesterday my ford ka which is only 3 years old was stuck in first gear - it was also revving very loudly and I had to turn off the engine so that I could release the clutch and start the engine again - couldn't just take my foot off the clutch otherwise I would have gone into the car in front

Hi Jenny I had the same problem with mine when it was about three years old. There was also a awful smell that would appear. I was told I was riding the clutch and it they would have to take the clutch out and that they could tell in minutes if I was so would be charged for taking the clutch out and this could be 800 pound. I disputed this and was lucky to have a great friend that worked at Ford and he got them to take responsibility they repaired the Master Brake cylendar which seemed to stop the problem. They did not take the clutchout??? When I aske why they said they always will take the cheapest option first. They will do everything to not do a repair and did do scare tactics with me but as I said I had a friend to support me. Good luck.
