My GHD straighteners are dead. it's not the plug as I have changed the fuse but there's no light or heat at all from them. What do you think it could be?
Fixed the girls crackling GHD...burnt contacts on switch...took apart and scraped them with a small screwdriver...electronics repair could do it also.

my GHDs were beeping and wouldn't heat up but sometimes would after awhile> I looked on this site and thought it was the fuse. But after checking on the official ghd web site it stated that this was commonly reported as a fault when it is in fact a safety feature if the ghds are stored in a cold room or on a cold suface I follwed the advice on the web and they are now fine. I now keep them stored in an oven mitt. It also solved the puzzle as to why they worked fine when in spain as I had kept them in a place where the sun was shining!!

www.ghdspares.com for repairs or spare parts on ghd irons, It sounds like the problem could be the thermal fuse or the power cable, both are available from www.ghdspares.com for little money, may be worth using their repair service so they can have a look at them for you.

Fuse available from www.rswww.co.uk for a few pence

there is a thermal fuse located under the ceramic plate in the control section of this straightner. unscrew the switch /led plate and you will see a pcb. the pcb is marked with the connections for the heater (white wires) and the fuse (brown wires) a simple test with a multimeter or similar will tell you if the fuse has blown. cant tell you if this part is available from ghd. have the same problem will update you when i find out. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO BYPASS THIS FUSE. IT IS A SAFETY DEVICE !! also it goes without ssaying make sure it is disconnected from the mains !!!

Hi Sandra, i recently repaired a set of remington straighteners with a similar fault. The cable flexes a lot where it goes into the straighteners and this causes the wires to break inside the insulation. GHD straighteners however are normally designed to take this into account with a swivel cable connection to avoid this problem. If its not a broken wire then there could be a thermal fuse inside them which has gone. hope this helps.. if you need any more info you can reach me on customcalibraboy@aol.com
