Freezer warning light flashing?

I have an Hotpoint FZ175, my son left the door open for a considerable time now the red warning light is flashing. Can I fix this or has the freezer unrepairable

if it doesn't stop flashing (hopefully it will with the door closed) you would be best to manually defrost it for 24hrs.clean it and restart
