When The belt went on my 04 I striped it to change the belt
I bought a belt I found it was too big. I then found out the clutch has a lifetime guarantee and the belt shouldn’t break. I rang Dyson and they told be to bag up the parts and they would send a carrier for it.
It came back fully repaired and serviced with no charge. Try ringing them!

If you mean the belt that runs the cylindrical brush then the answer is that it's very difficult. My recommendation is that you remove the brush head assembly by removing the three platic screws - then you fit the new belt to the motor spindle - then you push the belt through to where the brush will go and strech it out as far as you can. Then get somwebody else to push the brush through the stretched belt and finally put it all back together agin. This can be done by one person but is very tricky. Better with four hands.

The belt is an integral part of the clutch, to change that you need to dismantle the brush head, then undo the 3 screws that secure the belt cover. Finally the large foot operated button needs to be removed to allow the clutch to be removed.
