what is this program?

what is cidaemon.exe some times it comes up in task manager and uses a hell of a lot of cpu%.between 95 and 100%.
when it does not appear everything seems OK.
but when it is in use some programs do not work.
as I said it is not always there?
windows XP.

Good solution if you only seldom perform file searches: The searches will take more time. It's probably the case of most users.

hi colin its windows indexing service=here's how to disable it 1- double click my computer point to explorer bar on the view menu and then click search.2-click change prefrences,and then click without indexing service .3- click no,do not enable indexing serviceand then click ok ..hope this helps ,happy computing m8.
