Land Rover Discovery 1 loss of power?

I have a 1994 Land Rover Discovery series 1 2.5tdi. The problem I'm having is when I put my foot down it will pull and then the power dies off. The motor starts fine no matter what the weather, revs and idles fine and runs well at a standstill. It just seems to be when I want a bit of power for say overtaking or hitting a bit of an incline in the road that the engines power goes. If I lift off the throttle for a short while and then back on, the power is there for a few seconds and then it starts to die again which makes me think it is fuel starvation. If I am driving on the flat or around town it's not as bad but still a bit of lag now and then. It's also seems to be a bit stuttery at about 40mph as if it wants to pull away but something is holding it back. Any advice offered will be gratefully received.

P.S. All filters have been changed i.e. air filter, fuel filter, oil filter etc. Thanks in advance, John.

Cheers killerdanny, I've had that suggested to me to clean the sedimenter but I'm a bit stumped as to how to do this. Is it easy to access? I HAVE changed my fuel lately like you asked earlier. A brother of mine had some drums of bio diesel which I mixed with my regular diesel as a top up and think I may have had some s**t in the bottom of the containers as he seems to be having a similar problem with his disco after putting in bio diesel from the same batch of containers :( so I think you're probably right in saying to clean the sedimenter. How do I do this? Is it an easy job as I'm new to discos. Thanks in advance, John.
P.S. no white smoke

just been talking to my m8 he is a disco man ,he suggests cleaning out sedimenter, he also says you may have water in fuel system due to condensation ,or could be contaminated fuel , have you used a different filling station?,is you're disco kicking out a bit of white smoke?.

check fuel pressure check turbo, as the fault only occurs when the engine is under load .
