i have a 316i 1.9 engine bmw the emissions light has come on, even though it only had mot three weeks ago, how do i solve this problem ? please

most likely the lamda probe on cat converter which has failed ,its a small sensor which is fitted to the converter and detects hydro carbon emissions ,hopefully its the probe at fault and not the cat converter .think its probably a job for the garage as the eprom will have to be reset to rid the warning light .
