gtech st04 12volt garden strimmer?

electronic switch inside handle does not allow motor to switch off, i am controlling it by removing battery from strimmer. inside the handle, the small red part of electronic component appears to have lost its spring to allow the extenal trigger to operate properly, hope someone can help, many thanks chris.

hi mechmonster, thanks for reply, i have managed to find the part for my 12volt g tech strimmer, i got it from maplins, it is the standard microswitch with lever actuator. i cut the actuator off to make it work, this actuator has one extra contact on the switch which i trimmed back to make it fit into the handle, the contacts are slightly wider so i trimmed them as well so the wired contacts would fit.the product code is gw:72p i was told they also stock the same switch without the actuator, cost £1.70. saved me cost of new strimmer.

hi,most budget elec tools don't cater for replacement parts to such an extent as to replacement switches/motor/ clutch parts.I would suggest using you're strimmer as you are untill the strimmer develops further faults and dies .try going for black and decker or bosch in you're next purchase as all parts are easily obtained from manufacturer.you could try to locate gtech parts/service on the internet . whatever you decide I wish you good luck
