Our electric was off for 24 hours due to a fault, battery seemed to die in alarm. replaced the fuse that needed to be replaced, and now only key pad is lighting up. there are no operater controls and display lights and i can not put any code in, there is electric going to alarm as I have tested it with electric screwdriver thingy. thanks

Sam is the man, he knows more than us guys, GTS dont be silly, everyone knows you can look at a battery and know its dead, Sams battery is rechargeable so it cant possibly be that, I test my batteries using a bucket of water and an extention lead plugged into the mains,
If i get an electric shock holding the battery i know its ok.
This is how the man from Map***s told me how to do it anyway,
Joking aside, Sam your talking to some of the most experienced Alarm engineers in the industry, If you question GTS then your a FOOL, bYEEE silly person

dont bother acorn,i mean ,why ask us if its under guarantee?

gts, October 2011
Perhaps I'll start again.

Contact your/any alarm company and ask how long the standby battery is required to work during a 24hr power cut, guess what the answer will be.

acorn, October 2011
and if its only 10 months old you should be contacting ur alarm company,i take it you have a year guarantee on it

dont be so high handed mate, how do you know its not the battery?do you have the pac tester?thats the unit we use ,it put dummy load on the battery, its no use using a test meter,or an electric thingy, this is a site that we profs give our free time to help you guys out,
we dont crit, but the search box top right contain hundreads of answers, after a mains fail the standy battery will power the system for at least 8 hours, after that the external sounder will trip till the battery powers done, then when the power restore it will recharge the battery ,and screwdriver thingy as you call it will only tell you there is power, not if there is a neutral return,

gts, October 2011
it is not the battery, as the battery working and the alarm is only 10 months old. i have never been on this site before, so i am sorry if i have offended anybody, by not searching! i was asking for help not criticism! thanks anyway

acorn,i dont know, you ,alarm guy, nick, and myself has answered this question soooooooooooo many times,
i grow tired and weary, and as you say,why they dont use the search box,its beyound me.am gona have a brandy :-)

The clue is "battery seemed to die"

gts, why do people not use the SEARCH box, top right?

Is it too difficult to understand?

This (?) has been asked/answered SO MANY times before!

ps Why do people never get their alarm serviced?

Why do people think that re-chargeable batteries last for ever?

acorn, October 2011
i give up !
