my ip address is missing ?

Hi , my ip address is missing and i cannot connect to the internet, I have tried typing cmd in the start search box and then ioconfig in the black box that appears but it shows nothing . How can i get it back any advice much appreciated

are you on a network? If so router would give ip address.
other than that depends on OS
