Stannah Stair Lift 300?

Can any one tell me the process for changing batteries
Anthony Bird, October 2011
hi there..removel of main carriage batteries.
hopefully yours is a l/h model as it is easier to do than r/h model.[disconnecting leads from main pcb]
1/ have the lift near the bottom to work on.
2/ turn off mains spur supply going to charger.
3/ turn off isolator switch back of carriage.
4/ remove carriage cover where you will see the red and black wires from batteries going to pcb [make a note where disconnecting from terminals].
5/ support battery housing with one hand whilst removing the 2 x star fixings,
6/ lower and lift out housing then remove carriage batteries..
reverse procedures when fitting new batteries.
hoped this will help......ian ..portsmouth uk

I have a stannah stairlift(13steps) and would like to shorten it to 7 steps--this I hope a temporary measure and that is why I am not spending out on a new lift--I am a fitter and my son is a trician-so we have the skills--just would like as much info to get going
