Replacement timer clocks?

I have purchased a replacement timer clock with the same connections and appears identical but not a true Chaff..... part. But it won't work, this part is considerably less expensive than original parts. Is it a case that only true chaff... Parts are required?

no if that was the case then the part wouldn't be in circulation ,maybe the fault lies with another component, looks like you have wasted your money ,did you test for vac on the led power line?.
