How can I get the till to cancel print operation?

Trying to adjust message at end of till receipt, but unable to get machine out of mode.
Can you help, please?

Turn power off at wall.
Turn key to P mode.
Hold SUBTOTAL button down.
Turn power on at wall.
Let go of SUBTOTAL button.
Turn key to R (REG) mode.
