Our dishwasher keeps tripping all the sockets out?

Our dishwasher keeps tripping the sockets and there is a faint electrical smell and bang when it does this. Any ideas what could be causing it & how / where to fix? The dishwasher is a ignis .

mains suppressors failing can cause this.will be attached somewhere near where the mains lead enters the appliance

As you get a smell, probably timer unit, you would need to open it up, after disconnecting power, and have a look around, you will also be able to limit the area of the fault by the smell, it will be stronger nearer the fault, could also be motors etc, but same thing, have a good look sniff around
