is fixing a gas shock possible?

Have a 2005 Chevy trailblazer I opened the rear door and the shocks or struts are working can you fix them or just replace

Don't understand. If the struts are working, why do you want to replace them ?

Just replace them as a pair, normally held in place with a spring clip, remember to support the tailgate with a prop or have someone hold it otherwise it will smack you on the head when you remove the struts!!
