stearing wheel?

i was driving my saxo 1.1 desire and the steering became heavy. my tyres aren't flat. suspension seems fine. any ideas what the problem could be and is it something i could fix myself and how? Thank you!

sounds like the oil level in power steering unit could be low,or the pump is shot,check oil level
