Pilot light will not stay on, Potterton Flamingo 40 boiler?

As soon as release the control knob, the pilot light goes out.Repeating the lighting up process results in the same outcome.Any ideas.

my boiler turns it self off after about 20 minutes. they is no pilot light so i try to light it back up and as soon as i let go of the control button the pilot light goes back out. if i leave the boiler about 20 mintues then try it again it comes back on, then after another 20 mintues of being on does the same thing. this is on a gas potterton flamingo 40

Thanks Pat - it was that hidden little button for me - you've saved me a gas engineer call out!

There's an Overheat Thermostat Re-Set Button tucked inside of the right hand side of the Thermostat Knob Mounting. It may have popped out. If you can locate it, all you have to do is push it back in. Then try re-lighting your pilot light.

i had this problem, its the tap regulator easy to change if you're careful its at the bottom of the long bar witch you turn to set the heat.if in any doubt call an engineer
