Hi ive got the same sort of problem. Can any tell me which colour wires are the earth, positive and ignition feed as there aren't any block connectors on my lorry. Off the top of my head there are two white wires a yellow and a blue. The other wires for the speakers are in a seperate bunch. Thanks in advance

the relay is G278 which is the ign relay so that should be there ...the access the dropper ,it's best just to unscrew and remove the near side dash ,not as bad a job as it looks ..and before you ask that round socket you will find is the diagnostic socket lol...if your chassis is 0l148340 or below ,it has what they called a radio dropper which had an internal fuse and is non repairable ,from 0l148341 it was a voltage converter and its fuse is fitted externally beside it

Norb, my old radio didn't work I'm going to have a look at the dropper over next weekend, could just be a fuse, so thanks for all the info. What does the rely behind the dash do? I wont be able to reply until later in the week, works gets in the way! so thanks in advance for help and info.

Thanks again

meant to add the dropper should be behind the internal passenger trim ,one has an internal fuse and one an external fuse ,depending on chassis number

cheers
if you have a multimeter put it over the plug see what the voltage is ,or stick a bulb over the plug....
there are 2 fuses E134 & E026 both in the left hand fuse panel and behind the dash there is a relay for the radio ..there should be 2 plugs GREY for POWER & BROWN for SPEAKERS... PINS 4 & 7 should be you 2 feeds power and ignition..wire numbered 1143 &1108..or depending on chassis number they may be 1143 and i think 1153 &pin 8 should be an earth

Thank Norb, as ever just the info i need, i have a old radio i'm not worried about, so i'll try that. many thanks.

the 45 left the factory with voltage droppers ,so you should be able just to drop in a 12 volt radio...obviously it would still be wise to make sure it is still 12 volts as some companys did spec 24 volt radios or the dropper may have failed or been removed
