Ihave an old schoolhouse clock that I had someone convert to battery ?

operated. I dropped the clock and repaired the face myself. Problem is second hand is fine, minute and hour hands are loose and clock does not keep the correct time. I never put in a battery motor before ,it appears what ever drives the larger hands is fouled up. or do I just have to push them harder on the drive shaft? Thanks in advance for the help.
