Why aren't my main headlights not working?

My main headlights of my 2009 renault megane 1.5 dynamique dci are not working properly. There is no warning on the dashboard so can't work out what the problem is.

The problem is you have the worst car manufacturer for electrical problems!!! just type renault into the search box on this site and you will see all the horror stories!!
Have checked the obvious things like the fuses and any relays fallen out of their sockets
