t-reg citroen saxo keeps cutting out?

saxo cuts out between 15-25 ish mph when slowing or changing down a gear...

citroen had it on a diagnostics machine an said nothing was wrong...if it doesn't play up while it's on machine it wont show a problem will it?
where can i find a proper mechanic who knows why something is wrong by a owners description?

could it be....fuel starvation
air problem?
in line fuel filter?
dirty injectors?

Guys I had the same problem on my 1.4 1996. I solved it by depressing the inertia switch which is a rubber button found in the top right side of the engine bay. This is a small switch that cuts the fuel in the event of an accident. It works with a small ball bearing which is held up by a magnet. When you hit something it dsiplaces the ball bearing which falls and blocks the fuel. The only problem is if the magnet wears out the ball bearing keeps falling down all the time. I would start by just depressing the button but if it continues you will have to replace the inertia switch. Hope this helps.

Hi,

My saxo vtr is suffering similar problems, cutting out at lights, traffic, cold -revs drop then shoot up.

From what I can gather it's something to do with the air inlet manifold sensor. It's telling the throttle control that there's enough oxygen going to the engine but its not.

I've got my own question up regarding this issue and waiting for confirmation before I set about my car with a blow torch.

If you do get any info I'll be grateful if you could forward it on to me. But what ever you do dont let any garage change your ecu/ temp sensor / idle control , as its not the ecu that has the fault, and it costs an arm and a leg.
