corsa cv joint gaiters?

A girly question.....
All 4 Joint gaiters on car need replacing and garage is doing this. I have either an easy tronic or tiptronic gear box which is playing up (F Light has come on sometimes) of which he will clean, drain and put in new fluid and reset gears or some kind of diganostic.
I kind of know what the cv jointer gaiters do - but the Girly question is can if affect the gear box ? I feel by topping up fluid and doing diagnostic test / resetting the gear box wont eradict the problem of the F light coming on and car stopping. Im being cynical ...
As said its a girly question.
Thanks

Hi Cherry previous answer on cv gaitors correct. What you need to know about easytronic faults is that they often cost £1000+ to fix!! If your car is getting old the repair may cost more than the car is worth.

The cv joint gaiters on the drive shafts shouldn't affect the gearbox.

If this is an easytronic automatic, then to quote from the handbook:

"If a fault occurs in Easytronic , the control indicator lights up (that's the car / spanner light) . In the event of serious faults, an "F" also appears in the transmission display. It is possible to continue driving if only car / spanner lights up. Manual mode can then no longer be selected."

"If an "F" is also shown in the transmission display , it is not possible to continue driving. Have the cause of the fault remedied. We recommend that you consult a Vauxhall Authorised Repairer. The system's integrated self-diagnostics allows faults to be quickly remedied."

That basically means is that your car needs hooking up to a diagnostic fault code reader to establish what the problem is. I hope you are using a Vauxhall Authorised Repairer.
