How do you disable the Vauxhall Omega alarm system?

I believe the alarm system on my vauxhall omega (2.5 TD R-reg) may have a short circuit as it goes off at random times inc. whilst driving along. How can you disable the alarm?

Well its been a week and the alarm seems to be working ok now on my omega, (see article above) as i said the £30 was well spent as it seems to have solved the problem but you may be able to fix yours for free by reading my article above which tells you how to do it, good luck all.

My omega alarm goes off at random. I have just had an auto electrician check it out, he was only at my house for twenty minutes as he claimed to know what the problem was straight away, cost me £30, worth it if it solves the problem, he said its a common fault on all vauxhalls, what he done was disconect the alarm siren as he said once the siren internal battery starts to fail the drop in voltage actually triggers the alarm, on my model car (cdx) it also sounds a seperate horn and flashes the indicators so that will do i suppose, the electrician was only here a couple of hours ago so i will let you all know how it goes in a week or so, i am sitting here with my fingers crossed as i have had this problem for a few months now and spoke to a few people who have had different opinions on the fault, anyway the siren on my car is located under the bonnet/under the plastic trim which more or less is at the bottom of the driver side wiper arm in the corner (you'll find it) i will let you know how it goes anyway.

Matt.

The most common cause of random alarm problems on the Omega is the bonnet sensor.

Try taping it down and see what happens.

If that does not work, try this site. It is dedicated to the Omega and is both very friendly and informative!
