Old Inspiron 1505 battery dead, ordered one over the internet?

New battery arrives fully charged, used to 23% connected to charger overnight, next morning battery is at 18%. Did I buy a bad battery from a bad source or is there a solution? Do I take battery to absolute 0% then recharge?

Always better to fully discharge battery, But might not be your problem, check power supply. If that ok, fault in charge cct.
