Delonghi Magnifica 4000 dropping cofee grounds inside machine?

My coffee maker is dropping coffee grounds inside the machine, particularly to the right of the infuser. Some of the compressed used coffee is being deposited in the waste container but is not fully compressed into 'cakes' as it used to be. I'd be grateful for any help.

Nothing to the right of infuser except water tank, (well on mine anyway, but cannot remember the model number) and as the lever moves the used cake to the left, I would start by giving the infuser unit a good clean, soak in warm water, take the top plate off, 1 screw in middle, Have you done a descale lately, I prefer to use the recommended Durgol, Does a better job than general descalers. The cake is made by the infuser unit powering up over, check the lever on top is free to move, if it sticks over to the left sometimes, grinds will go right, Are you using beans or ground? if ground careful about the order you push the buttons, wrong order, and the ground will go straight through. I prefer beans, much better cup. I get the occational not cake, loose packing, I do a good clean and all ok again.
