changing 17 inch wheel to a smaller set?

I have a 2010 chevrolet Colorado truck. the wheels are 17 inch. making it difficult for my wife to enter the vehicle.I want to put smaller wheels and tires on the vehicle. Can I do this machanically and still be safe.

the only other thing you will need to bear in mind if the 17" are factory standard your speedo will be out with smaller wheels check this out with the manufacture rgds Dave

As long as you have clearance over the disc's and calipers and the offset of the wheel is correct there should be no problems in dropping the size
