Why is my washer leaking when not in use?

My washer started leaking when not in use, but after a wash. I am assuming it is the pump but why does it leak when switched off.

to answer your question, there is about two pints of water left in sump hose,so.if the seal in the pump has gone ,to check it,turn machine off, pull machine out,tip it backwards to rest on work top, you have not given the make machine,so i cant be speacific, but look under the machine, you should be able to see the drip ,or water comtamination on the pump,it could also be the door seal,or the sump hose, make sure you unplug the machine before working on it,as some machines switch on the neutral,(terminals always live )

`this was quite common with older washers `, when pumps wore they leaked through the pump shaft/seal when at standstill, newer machine pumps dont leak, why dont you remove the back and investigate where the leak is coming from
