I have a 2006 punto the power stearing warning light has been coming on intermittently so i went to my local fiat agent who wanted to charge me £100 for a 5 minuit diagnostic check or they could replaice the full system for £800 plus vat
As this problem is a common fault I am not going to buy the brand new punto evo i promised myself in the new year and thanks to this forum i plan to repair it myself and get rid never to buy another fiat in my life

why?
the short answer is fiat know all about this problem but refuse to aknowlage its existance even the punto evo suffers the electronic stearing to fail other common faults include heater fan failure cooling fan failiure and abs failiure

There are no recalls listed on the VOSA site for your problem, there are a couple relating to a steering joint that can fail and result in total loss of steering!!!!

What ever you do, don't replace it with anything from renault !!! unless you like spending loads of money trying to fix crazy electrical/electronic faults, you have been warned!!
