Anyone else buy Dyson "Animal" that arrived DOA?

My very expensive Dyson DC14 "ANIMAL" vacuum arrived finally and was dead on arrival. It won't pick-up anything. I mean from the upright position to the hose set-up...my husband is having a fit because it cost so much and I kept singing its praises....help me
