leather Palliser swivel rocker recliner chair?

when the chair is in the reclined position the footrest is in the correct position but when the legs and feet are resting on it, the footrest won't hold the weight and starts to sink to about the half way position, How do I correct this problem. All springs and mechamisms seem to be in their proper places.

My recliner sits to far back, when not reclined. How do I fix this. I would like it to sit more upright when not reclined.

Since you say the springs all seem to be in place, then maybe they are weaker than they should be. Another possibility could be that the drag adjustment, if the chair has one, has loosened. Look for wing nuts near the rear of the mechanism, one on each side, that would adjust pressure on some coil springs. Turn the wing nuts to compress the springs on each side, just a full turn or two at a time, as this will also increase the force needed to recline the seat back.
