i have a manual, petrol astra.the inner cv joint boot is split in two pieces.could anyone tell me if it possible to loose gearbox oil from this damaged boot.i know it has grease in the boot but there seems to be alot of lube covering the engine but there are no other leaks on the engine

when the shaft is out to fit a new c.v boot it would do no harm to replace the diff. seal also considering the price of one,think these have a very thin grease in them anyway,more like a very thick oil
