If you have not fixed this yet, I have a suggestion: I suggest that your air mass meter is faulty. I understand this device regulates the air to the engine and when it fails it only lets in a little air. Fuel is allowed into the engine based on the air mix so less air means less fuel giving drastically underpowered performance. This is a common fault with the VW Sharan, ours failed a while ago rendering the vehicle underpowered - maximum 60mph on the motorway, maximum 18mph (!) up a local steep hill where 60mph can otherwise safely be achieved. Cost to repair is about £180-£200. If you try to get it replaced at a Ford garage to save on repair cost (the Sharan being very similar to the Ford Galaxy) Ford will not guarantee the repair with a VW part. If you find it is the air mass meter, and you have a warranty, check it first to see if it's covered but even if your warranty is in place it probably doesn't cover it.
Hope that helps.
