How to check if Hotplates are ok?

Hi I have a Russell Hobbs small table top cooker with 2 hotplates. When the smaller one is turned on the socket circuit breaker trips. I have removed covers checked hotplates with a meter have 50ohms on 1 and 75ohms on other. Are these ok? I checked the control thermostat 1 is clicking on and off other 1 does not click. The reading on meter does not change on the the 1 that does not work.

if the rcd trips then it is a problem with the power going to earth and testing the resistance of the hotplate will not prove a thing!.connect a meter to the body of the hotplate and then to all the terminals.any low resistance here is an indication of a faulty hotplate.ideally you need a 500v megga to do this test properly.the switch readings might be a welded contact on the switch causing your issue
