my Singer Genie reverse button?

When I try to reverse stitch it feels like the button is hitting something. What is it and how can I fix it

not so easy to say without seeing machine.suggest you remove bobbin case and while holding reverse button turn handwheel to see if needle not striking hook.if not it could be something on main drive either loose or out of sync
