how can i fix my gearbox problem?

my mk 1 megane 2002 is stuck in first gear but the gear stick is stuck in reverse , how can i get in in to neutral

Possibly the connection between the gearstick and gearbox has broken or come loose. Dont know if it is cable or rod connection on that car.
You might be able to get it into neutral by manually adjusting the mechanism at the gearbox end.
