my samsun fridge freezer is smelling ?

the refridgerator is smelling and registers 10 centagrade and will not go any lower,the freezer is working ok the appliance is 12 yeaRS OLD

I assume model is an auto defrost, which would indicate a faulty defrost heater switch cct in the fridge section.
