old stannah stair lift mod 229?

lift stopped mid way as if no power no lights etc - checked 240v to connection box all OK nothing at key switch?
stripped off covers carefully found cable drum fully extended and one spring broke also blue (neutral open circuit from connection box to circuit board under seat)?
where can I buy replacements - Im not totally convinced this will cure the problem? does anyone know of a schematic etc any help will be appreciated my frail mother is rather desperate to have use of the lift again she has no money for a new lift

Many thanks Dennis

what causes the chair to stop half way up ?

These parts have not been manufactured since 1991 - best place to look would be stairlift-spares.co.uk (The trailing cable from the 229 is the same and is 7 core with a fake core for strength)

hi there...........your problem is common with any stairlift with trailing cable,if stairlift stops halfway its because 1 or 2 wires in the trailing cable [usualy about 7 wires in total] coil up/break inside of sleeving[wear&tear],obvious signs on the trailing cable itself are it feels lumpy in certain areas.
as for the springs i use to replace them but it was very time consuming and later hard to get hold of and replaced the whole unit instead called"cable reeling drum" which came with everything on it but very exspensive;a couple of hundred £s.stannah manufactured these at andover ,you could ring them to see if they can supply either the parts or the whole unit..there is a website called "stairlift parts"
aswell........hoped this has helped.if not you could ring me 07523051777..ian..portsmouth/uk
