SD, do us all a favour and GO AWAY
You know nothing about alarm systems and prove it time and time again.

The last thing you want to be doing is opening a live unit with little or no information

you need to find the user manual for that particular alarm panel .

The system will need a service, and most likely a replacement battery.

Without the user/engineers manual you will encounter problems you cannot resolve

you need that info in the manual!!

simply opening a panel is dangerous.

simply switching the mains off won't help you most panels have to be worked on whilst live.

Get hold of the manuals first.

Read them and get to know your alarm.

If you encounter any problems, post back on here and the guys can help you.

Maureen, DON'T do what SD has written, it could be dangerous.

you need to tell us the Make & type of your control panel for the information you require. there are so many that is the ONLY way to help you safely.

Post here again with all the information & we'll see what we can do. What has been suggested is NOT the way to go about things.

What has been suggested might default the panel back to factory settings, or not. If it does you'll have an ever bigger problem. Don't do it.

SD

If you can't come up with sensible & safe advise I suggest you don't post here any more (as has been said before)

You're 'help' isn't. You obviously don't know much, if anything about alarm systems.

I've reported this wrong & possibly dangerous suggestion to the Forum Admin. hopefully it will be removed quickly.

Make model would help, but usually, take front panel off, disconnect all power, mains and battery. then look for a set of jumpers on the pcb, (not the wooly ones). short them for a few seconds, while you re connect battery, that should reset to default, But with out make model. Try internet search for make model, quite a lot have the user manuals on the web.
