wipers not working on 58 reg caddy?

Wipers not working on 58 reg caddy. Fitted new wiper motor,but still not working. Do you need to teach the ecu a new motor has been fitted?

On some Volkswagens the washers and wipers only work with the bonnet down. I have had trouble with bonnet catch switch. Find wires and join them.

ECU is for engine, nothing to do with wipers, as you fitted new, possible switch fault, or wiring, I assume you check fuse.
