fiat stilo 1.9 engine management light on...again!! lacks power!!?

garage checked problem on computer readout..showing air flow meter. They noticed the air filter was very blocked so changed that and did a service. Power seemed to have returned at low revs...emg light went out. Light came back on same day...returned it to garage and they changed the air flow meter...emg light went out...came back on again same day....now with lack of power again!!! Does anybody have any idea what could be the problem..or have I got to try everything? I thought the computer readout thingy which you pay 45 quid for was supposed to give you the problem?? Very fed up!!!

look for spilts in pipework to and from turbo and intercooler...check intercooler has not got a hole in it. I may be wrong but I think your turbo is not getting cooled air and is going into limp mode, the airflow meter is coincidence. BTW not all fault readers are the same...I had a similar prob and it was the 3rd garage with an up to date reader that pinpointed it.

If i was you i would go back to the garage as them to run some live data tests on your car to see what is not working. Code readers only tell you what the car thiks is wrong. you need to test the suspect component before you fit new ones.It could be as simple as a split pipe.Hope this helps you. PS CAN YOU SEND ME £45 FOR NOT FIXING YOUR CAR.
