How can i fix my cash register ER-4940?

It appears that the mechanical latch spring at the bottom near the paper thread is worn. I have no manuals to work with so am trying to figure out how to fix this.

I've never heard of this problem. Common faults are worn feed rollers, worn feed clutch.
