scantronic 500?

hi my alarm went off recently even though it wasn't set,I entered my code and the alarm stopped, but the tamper led is on.I have read on other sites that it could be the battery, although it was replaced aprox 15 months ago.can anyone help please, the alarm was serviced 4months ago and has been ok up until now.

..... both are ..... Equal I'd say.

No1 Does not know what he is talking about most of the time.

No2 Just wants to have a go.

guys, save us from all the sd,s in this world !how long do you think before he kills some one ?

SD is the local idiot.

He has an idea of what he is trying to say, but never quite gets there.

He's been told many times to go away but does not take the hint.

EVERY alarm panel out there has a 240v mains connection inside. this needs to be isolated BEFORE any amateur starts poking around inside.

The pros, well we know how to work on them safely, don't we?

Have you tried entering your user code again to reset the tamper?

You are right to be concerned about SDs suggestion.

That procedure will involve working on a live panel

potentially dangerous, one slip and its game over.Is it worth the risk????.

you mentioned having a service several months ago

still got his number?

Safer to give him a call

Did you change the battery yourself?

my advice is to leave well alone and be safe :)

thankyou SD isn't that a little dangerous, should I turn the power off first or is it safe to proceed with your suggestion?

If it says tamper, it could be tamper.
You would need to short the tamper cct connections, If it then clears, you may have wiring fault, you would then need to short tamper loop on each sensor, to find out which one the fault is on, Not forgetting, the bell box, can also set tamper. If you find one sensor gives the error, 1st check at the sensor, then check wiring, to find fault.
